Elementary Science

Our K-6 elementary science curriculum is aligned with The New York State P-12 Science Standards. The elementary curriculum is spiraled using the framework developed by the new standards. Students explore natural scientific phenomena across three dimensions of learning which include: Science and Engineering Practices, Disciplinary Core Ideas, and Cross-Cutting Concepts.

Science 21 (K-5) Elevate Science Grade Six

The core science curriculum at the elementary level utilizes Science 21 (K-5). Science 21 is designed to engage students in natural scientific phenomena, then inquiry based experiences that build science learning from one unit to another as well as one grade level to another with a balance of physical, earth, and life science experiences.

Students use Elevate Science in Grade Six as their core science resource. Similar to Science 21, Elevate Science engages students in scientific phenomena and units are designed into student centered “Quests” which are rooted in the three dimensions of science learning outlined in the NYS P-12 Science Standards.
