Welcome to Eastport-South Manor's Interscholastic Athletic Program. ESM is governed by the regulations of the New York State Commissioner of Education's basic code for athletic activities. ESM is also a member of the New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSSA), competing as a school in Section XI (Suffolk County). All registrations for athletics are now online. If your child is interested in trying out for Middle School or High School sports you must REGISTER ONLINE through FinalForms. See Important Links for FinalForms registration instructions.


The Student Athletic Handbook is a valuable tool for both parents/guardians and students participating in the interscholastic athletic program and are asked to read the handbook and sign the last page. This must be done for each season.

Boys Bowling Top in Their League

The varsity boys bowling team has completed an undefeated season, winning all 14 of their matches. The team also clinched the League Championship, securing their spot as the top team in their league.

Additionally, the varsity boys bowling team triumphed at the Wild card Tournament on Feb. 4, winning the Small School Championship. Not only did they take home the top spot, but their second game of 1226 was the highest single game scored in Suffolk County this season.

The team’s teamwork, determination and sportsmanship were truly outstanding this season and the have proven to be a dominant force in the league.

Boys Varsity Track Takes Home County Championship

On Feb. 1, the varsity boys track team won the Section XI Small School County Championship. The sharks edged out Shoreham-Wading River, 63- 51.

Justin Albanese, Jaiden Campbell and Riley Gimpel led the team with spectacular performances, which led to a victory. Congratulations

Bowling Brothers Triumph

Determination and teamwork have paid off for bowlers Logan Silbert and Alex Silbert this winter season.

On Jan. 15, Logan and Alex, both juniors, triumphed in the Section Xl High School Doubles Championship and proved their individual talents have come together to form an unstoppable duo. Having joined the team in eighth grade, the brothers have spent years refining their skills, and their seamless teamwork and complementary strengths were on full display throughout the tournament. Logan’s precision and Alex’s consistency blended perfectly, allowing them to dominate the competition. Their victory not only solidified their reputation as rising stars in the high school bowling scene but also showcased the powerful synergy between the two brothers, making them a force to be reckoned with on the lanes.

Additionally on Jan. 21, Logan accomplished the remarkable feat of bowling a perfect game, scoring a flawless 300. With each strike, his focus and precision were undeniable, demonstrating his skill and mastery of the sport. The atmosphere in the bowling alley was electric as Logan delivered one perfect shot after another, earning the applause and admiration of everyone watching. This achievement adds to his growing reputation in the bowling community and marks a memorable milestone in his bowling career.

Coach Rebecca Thorn is Inducted Into USA Lacrosse, Long Island Metro Lacrosse Foundation

Varsity girls lacrosse coach Rebecca Thorn has been inducted into the USA Lacrosse, Long Island Metro Lacrosse Foundation.

Patrick Hayes, director of health, physical education and athletics, noted that Thorn’s coaching has undoubtedly changed the varsity girls lacrosse program. During her 14-season tenure, the team has garnered 174 wins, produced 13 All-Americans and 10 Academic All-Americans, clinched seven Suffolk County titles and taken home two New York State titles.

Thorn is also a Hofstra University graduate (Class of 2007) where she played women’s lacrosse team.

The district congratulates Rebecca Thorn on this outstanding accomplishment and thanks her for her years of service to the district’s athletes.

Indoor Track Garners Championship Title

The Jr.-Sr. High School varsity indoor track team garnered the League III Championship title. The meet took place at Suffolk County Community College’s Brentwood campus on Jan. 17. 

The Eastport-South Manor Central School District congratulates the team and Coach Brian Methven on this outstanding accomplishment.
