The Eastport – South Manor Central School District Security Department’s mission is to provide and maintain a safe and secure environment for all students, faculty, staff and visitors. To that end, The ESM Security Department supervises and manages NYS licensed security guards and security monitors that are assigned to each of our school buildings and District offices. Many of the licensed security guards have prior law enforcement experience and all security personnel are screened and fingerprinted to work in K-12 public schools. To support the Security Department’s mission, the District supplies the Security Department, among other equipment, with uniforms, marked security vehicles and marked security mobile golf carts.
A large segment of the Security Department’s responsibilities includes supervising and managing security incidents, including Lockdown, Lockout, Shelter-in-Place, Hold-in-Place and Evacuate alarms and drills. The ESM Security Department also plays a large role in the District’s Emergency Response Plan (ERP).
