Shared Decision Making Committee (SDMC)

The Shared Decision Making Committee is a mandatory committee required by the New York State Education Department. The committee meet once a month at each school, and is comprised of teachers, parents, administrators, and community members. The purpose of SDMC is to work together on activities and initiatives that benefit the total student body.

Shared decision making is driven by the belief that the most effective choices are made when those affected by the decisions are involved in the decision making process. It is a process by which members of the educational community cooperate in identifying and implementing activities to advance and improve learning.
