Social and Emotional Learning

We pride ourselves in the implementation of a Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) curriculum that creates a welcoming and safe environment for academic success for all our students.

Positive Behavior Intervention and Support

For over a decade we have made a commitment to Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (PBIS). In each building students are recognized for demonstrating our positive expectations in every facet of the school from our classrooms, to our offices, our common areas and cafeteria. When we see students demonstrating our positive expectations we reward them with “Shark Bites or Shark Bucks.” When we see a child not demonstrating the behavior we want to see we reinforce the targeted behavior positively. Students are able to redeem their Shark Bites or Shark Bucks at the Shark Shack or mobile Shark Cart.

Leader in Me

At the elementary level we are pleased to partner with Franklin Covey in the implementation of The Leader in Me based on the work of Dr. Stephen Covey and the 7 Habits of Happy Kids. The 7 Habits are designed to have students do their personal best, set goals, and take ownership of their learning and lives.

START WITH YOU.

  1. Habit 1: Be proactive. You're in charge.
  2. Habit 2: Begin with the end in mind. Have a plan.
  3. Habit 3: Put first things first. Work first, then play.

THEN PLAY WELL WITH OTHERS.

  1. Habit 4: Think win-win. Everyone can win.
  2. Habit 5: Seek first to understand, then to be understood. Listen before you talk.
  3. Habit 6: Synergize. Together is better.

REMEMBER TO TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF.

  1. Habit 7: Sharpen the saw. Balance feels best.
