Making Friends ‘Starts With Hello’

Students during Start with Hello Week. thumbnail261116

Tuttle Avenue’s campus was by far the friendliest in the District from Sept. 16-20. Students hosted Start With Hello Week, a social program which encourages students to reach out to peers who may be suffering from social isolation and a lack of connectivity.

Wearing green, the students and faculty gathered outside to link kindness chains into a schoolwide chain to symbolize their connection as a community, empathy and inclusivity. Other activities during the week included wearing nametags and purposely telling others hello. Wearing favorite T-shirts and finding others with common interests, writing positive chalk messages, playing with someone new were also ways in which the students tried to be inclusive.

The kindness chain now hangs in the cafeteria as a symbol of the students’ efforts to be inclusive and kind.
