Tuttle Avenue School kindergarten students learned how to use the school library. Under the direction of library media specialist Cindy Norman, the students recently learned how to shop the shelves, or browse for an interesting book to check out.

The students first made shelf markers, which are inserted between shelved books to hold their place on the shelf while browsing. These shelf markers were also laminated and given a bar code and now serve as the students’ official library card.

Additionally, the kindergarten students learned about book care, the check-out process and how to behave in the library. Of course, a visit to the library would not be complete without story time.
