The District is proud to announce that Jr.-Sr. High School senior Amanda Seligman has been named a Commended Student in the 2025 National Merit Scholarship Program.

About 34,000 Commended Students throughout the nation, like Amanda, are being recognized for exceptional academic promise. Although Amanda will not continue in the competition for National Merit Scholarship awards, she still holds the distinction of being among the top 50,000 students who entered the 2025 competition by taking the 2023 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.

Amanda is one of 29 students who was designated as an Advanced Placement Scholar with Distinction and one of 11 seniors who have qualified to receive an AP Capstone Diploma upon graduation. She plays the viola in the honors orchestra Symphonia, is a member of the National Honor Society, is a Student Ambassador and a news reporter for the school newspaper ‘Shark Bites.” Amanda’s plans are to pursue a career as an electrical engineer.

The district congratulates Amanda on this outstanding honor and extends best wishes for success in the 2024-2025 school year.
