The District recognized students from South Street School and the Jr.-Sr. High School during the Oct. 9 board of education meeting.

The Jr.-Sr. High School Honors Concert Choir opened the meeting by performing the national anthem, under the baton of student-musician Emma Gallagher. Additionally, South Street School students in Brielle Colello’s class led the community in the Pledge of Allegiance.

During the recognition period of the meeting, Jr.-Sr. High School senior Amanda Seligman was then recognized for being named a National Commended Student in the 2025 National Merit Scholarship Program. French horn player Aaron Isaacson, alto singer Emma Gallagher and double bass player John Schroeder were also congratulated on being selected to participate in the New York State School Music Association All-State Winter Conference, to be held in Rochester on Dec. 5.

Lastly, Jr.-Sr. High School ambassadors Ashley Andresen, Kaitlin Andresen and Isabelle Grucci-Petersen informed the trustees, administration and community on happenings and achievements around the district.

Superintendent of Schools Joseph A. Steimel congratulated the students on their achievements and thanked each of them for taking time in their schedules to attend the board of education meeting.
