U.S. News and World Report ranked Eastport Elementary School as one of New York State’s top elementary schools for 2025. Eastport ranked #594 out of the 103,369 schools reviewed, naming it as an educational institution which is not only high achieving but one that successfully educates all its students. 

Principal Thomas Fabian made the announcement during a school assembly on Jan. 31 and gave credit to the students and teachers for their hard work. “We are so proud of you,” Mr. Fabian said. “When you put in the hard work, it pays off. We won’t stop until we’re ranked number one.” 

Superintendent of Schools Joseph A. Steimel explained to the students that the board of education and faculty constantly put programs into place to improve education. “We measure education in a variety of ways,” he said. “We constantly want to improve all of our schools and now Eastport Elementary School is recognized as one of the best in the state.”
