Science Honor Society members collaborated with Dayton Avenue School and Eastport Elementary third and fourth grade students on conducting science experiments. In its inaugural year, the honor society’s goal was to provide outreach to the younger students and to increase their interests in participating in the annual science fair. The honor society members will also serve in a mentoring capacity on science fair projects.

The experiments included a variety of subjects, such as a lima bean planting activity and the testing of Newton’s Laws of Motion. Students also explored weather trends by year to determine why the area is seeing less snow. They also examined the feeding times of sandpipers who are solitary versus those who feed in groups.
